Storytelling Festival and Competition 2010
On Friday, October 29, GCA elementary held their Third Annual Storytelling Festival and Competition. Children in grades 3-5 performed stories from Appalachia, Native American Fables, and Texas Tall Tales. Any child in grades 3-5 could audition for the opportunity to compete in the storytelling competition; however, only five children from each grade were chosen to compete. These children worked for six weeks memorizing and polishing their stories. The judging panel was comprised of local celebrities: Matt Hinkin from WATE Channel 6, Marisa Lykins from Love 89, Marshall Stewart from Love 89, and our own Shannon Morris.
The winners were as follows:
3rd Grade: 1st Place -Michelle Lower, 2nd Place- Shelby Rogers
4th Grade: 1st Place- Gentry McReynolds, 2nd Place- Chloe Gibson
5th Grade: 1st Place-Hannah Sloas, 2nd Place-Kristin Hunt
