The inaugural season for GCA Tennis has been a great one. Both boys' and girls' teams have forged a winning season, with the girls posting an impressive season record with only one loss (to Pigeon Forge) entering the District Tournament, which was held May 6-7. Both boys' (5-2) and girls' (6-1) teams received a #2 seed.
Friday night the girls won the first 4 singles courts to win their opening round match against Carter in the tournament. The boys played with all they had and won 3 singles courts to force a tiebreaker, but they lost a tough match to Gatlinburg-Pittman. The boys still ended up being in the top four for their first season and did a fantastic job.
On Saturday, the girls faced previously unbeaten Pigeon Forge in the District final and they prevailed, winning the District Championship!
The boys and girls both play in the Singles/Doubles tournament on Monday, May 9th, and Tuesday, May 10th at West Hills Tennis Courts from 9am to 5pm. If our girls or boys win this tournament, then they will advance on to REGIONALS on May 16th and 17th.
The girls advance on to REGIONALS this Thursday, May 12th @ 4pm. Location is TBA.

On and off the court, the GCA Tennis Team will display Christ-like character with our words and actions. We will strive to “Discover the life we were made for” by God our Creator." We are very excited about the challenge to develop a new tennis program here at GCA. In order for this journey to achieve success, it will take commitment, dedication, teamwork, perseverance, and hard work from both our coaching staff and athletes.
Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.”
- Proverbs 16:3
Our coaching staff goals:
Encourage the love and knowledge of a new sport to our campus.
Teach the importance of a healthy body through life-long fitness and nutrition.
Develop leadership skills in each athlete.
Teach Christ-like sportsmanship in both winning and losing.
Provide opportunities to serve and encourage others.
Develop teamwork for one common goal.
Encourage honesty on the court through playing by the rules.
We want to personally invite you to the court to discover a new “love” for the sport of tennis!
