Worship Arts/Chapel

GCA has been blessed by God with not only teachers who invest in the lives of their students, but we also have a group of students who are dedicated to serving Him in the classroom and beyond. One of the core values of Grace is to build disciples for Kingdom work. Worship Arts is such a class, where students learn not only about chapel preparation, but they engage in learning activities that deepen their walk with Christ through individual and team exercises.

Students in worship arts class help plan weekly chapel services for both middle and upper school students under the guidance of campus pastor Matt Mercer and Choir director Melissa Cleveland-Shuler. From special speakers to worship and praise music, this team works on personal as well as corporate worship experiences that will draw students to know God and to know Him better.

Chapel services meet once per week in the Chi Sigma room, the former worship center of Grace Baptist Church. These weekly meetings give students an opportunity to listen to God's Word in a way that is relevant and applicable to their daily lives. Students are involved in outward and inward worship to the God who has given us all good things. Many students can point to a chapel service where they either committed their life to the Lord for salvation, made a decision to follow Christ in full-time ministry, or found forgiveness and/or the freedom to forgive others. An annual spiritual focus time, this year called "Break Free", emphasizes a call to a genuine spiritual identity in the family of God, a call to a richer relationship with Christ, and to experience true freedom from bondage from expectations, tradition, ritual, and other things that hinder believers from a full life in Christ.

Dramatic ArtsRansom of Red Chief

GCA has had a history of showcasing talent in the lower and middle schools through the Storytwlling Competition and an annual spring play. The high school has benefitted from that enthusiasm and has begun to produce and develop students in dramatic arts. Most recently, the school produced a one-act play entitled "The Ransom of Red Chief", a wonderful comedy that played to a full house in the Chi Sigma Auditorium.

The drama department is hoping to expand its offereings with more productions and a wider array of plays, skits and full-blown productions that will incorporate a larger segment of the school population. To see pictures form the most recent play, "The Ransom of Red Chief", click here.
