October 17, 2011- District Tournament GCA 2, Pigeon Forge 3 (in overtime)
Record: District 6-3 Overall: 11-6-2
It was a tough night for the Lady Rams on the district tournament opener as the Lady Tigers of Pigeon Forge got revenge and the upset win on the hill this evening. The Lady Rams had beaten the Lady Tigers 3-0 in regular season but tonight things didn't go their way as they lost 3-2 in overtime play. It has been a great season for these Lady Rams as they accomplished so much and succeeded in so many ways. Coach Carrie and coach Green are very proud of these young ladies.

The Lady Black Knights of Chuckey-Doak HS made the two hour trip from Afton TN. tonight to face the Lady Rams on the hill of Grace Christian Academy. Tonight was a special evening as it was Senior Night for the Rams. Chesney Williams, Kaycie McCreight, Kelsey Wyrosdick, Wendy Adams, Caycee Frost, and Jessie Grimes have been very special to this team and have been leaders on and off the field. Coach Carrie and Coach Green are very proud of their accomplishments this season. These six seniors will be missed dearly.
It was a great evening for the home team as the Lady Rams wanted to prove that last years 2-2 tie up in Afton was just a fluke........and that they did as the Rams cruised to a 7-1 win. Senior Kaycie McCreight scored two goals this evening and also had two assists. Senior Jessie Grimes played a little on the attacking side as well and grabbed herself another goal on the year. Other scorers were Kelsey Foster, Lauren Hensley, and D'Anna Johnson. Freshman Mary Thacker scored her first HS career goal tonight. Other assists tonight were by Shelby Green, D'Anna Johnson, and Kelsey Foster.

The Lady Rams hit the road Tuesday evening for the hour and a half trip to Gatlinburg to face a very tough district opponent in the Lady Highlanders. The Rams played a very tough and physical first half with GP and came out with a 1-1 tie at halftime. Kaycie McCreight ripped the back of the net from 25 yards out on the free kick following the GP foul. The second half unfortunately could not be duplicated as the Lady Highlanders punched in two more goals for the final of 3-1.

Senior Kaycie McCreight hit the back of the net after displaying some nice footwork for the lone goal which came late in the second half. The Lady Rams were still playing without two starters (Green and Foster) due to injury.
1st Half Scoring: none
2nd Half Scoring: Kaycie McCreight (unassisted)
Shots on Goal: Grace - 10, Anderson County - 15
September 27, 2011- GCA 3, Gibbs 1
Record: District 5-1 Overall: 9-3-2
The Lady Eagles of Gibbs HS paid the Rams a visit tonight up on the hill at Grace Christian Academy. The Lady Eagles were looking for revenge after last years loss to the Lady Rams but the visiting team would go home again with another loss in their column. The Lady Rams did return one of the three injured players tonight for this district game. Freshman D Anna Johnson was glad to be back on the field and she let the Eagles know quickly as she scored the Rams first goal of the evening from a nice assist by Kaycie McCreight. Johnson was not finished, midway through the first half she lit up the net again this time from the assist of Sarah Waldrop. Lauren Hensley finished the scoring in the second half with another nice assist by Kaycie McCreight for the final score of 3-1.

Record: District 4-1 Overall 8-3-2
The Lady Rams were on the road this evening for a non-district match with the Lady Bobcats of Oliver Springs. It was a very sloppy night as the heavy rains fell and the play was very sloppy as well. The Lady Rams were playing without 3 attacking starters but still what should have been an easy win against a struggling team turned out to be a close win by the score of 2-1. Both goals were scored late in the game as Kaycie McCreight led off with the first goal and Lauren Hensley finished with the second goal from the assist of Jessie Grimes.
1st Half Scoring - none
2nd Half Scoring: Kaycie McCreight (unassisted), Lauren Hensley (assist Jessie Grimes)

The Lady Rams took I-40 to exit 407 Tuesday night.....destination, Pigeon Forge. This was a must win tonight in district play to stay in the top three spots of the district. The rains came down just before kickoff but the Lady Rams didn't let it dampen their spirits. Coach Carrie and coach Green are going into this game already with two strong offensive players out (Kelsey Foster and D Anna Johnson) due to injury and midway through the game we lost another on the attacking side (Shelby Green) to injury, but..........the Lady Rams did not disappoint as they pulled another shutout of 3-0.
It was a total team effort during the evening and sophomore Lauren Hensley took the scoring into her own hands as she pulled the hat trick in scoring all three goals. It was a big win for the Rams playing shorthanded on the attacking side and these girls played with a lot of heart tonight.
1st Half Scoring: Lauren Hensley (assist Kaycie McCreight)
2nd Half Scoring: Lauren Hensley (assist Kaycie McCreight), Lauren Hensley (assist Sophia De La Rosa)
Shots On Goal: Grace - 12, Pigeon Forge - 5
September 19, 2011 GCA 3, Harriman 0
Team record: 6-1, District 3-1
The Lady Blue Devils of Harriman paid the Lady Rams a visit tonight on the hill at GCA and they were looking for their first ever win over the Lady Rams. The Lady Rams are playing banged up this week with a couple of starters out for a few days but once again the Rams stepped up to the occasion and shutout the Lady Devils again by a score of 3-0. It must have been "Sophomore Night" on the hill, as three different 10th graders found the back of the net.
Shelby Green started the Ram scoring as she took the ball unassisted from the midfield circle all the way to about the 12 yard mark and ripped the corner of the net. Lauren Hensley got on board when she received a great pass from Caycee Frost and banged it off the top post of the goal for the 2-0 lead. The final goal was scored when Marisa Infield chipped one over to Elizabeth Raby who finished it when she took it off the bounce and kicked it into the back of the net for the final score of 3-0.

2nd Half Scoring: Lauren Hensley (assist Caycee Frost); Elizabeth Raby (assist Marisa Infield)

GCA record: 5-1 overall, District 3-1
The Lady Patriots of Union County High School paid a visit on the Rams's hill for some Friday
night soccer action. The Lady Rams lost their first district game earlier in the week to a tough Berean Christian team and knew they needed a win tonight against district foe Union County. The Lady Rams did just that as they had another shutout on the season by the score of 3-0. It was a good win and we needed it to get back on track in district play.
Stats:
1st Half Scoring: Lauren Hensley (assist D Anna Johnson); Kelsey Foster (assist D' Anna Johnson)
2nd Half Scoring: Sophia De La Rosa (unassisted)
Shots on Goal: GCA - 18 Union County - 4

Record: 4-1 overall, District 2-1
The Lady Rams were on the road, taking on the two-year defending district champions, the Berean Christian Lady Eagles. The Lady Eagles returned most everyone from last year's team, and the Rams were looking to overcome last year's 5-1 loss. The Lady Eagles struck first on an early score in the first 3 minutes and made it 1-0 Eagles. In the 20th minute the Eagles scored again on a long driving shot from about 25 yards out, but the Lady Rams responded shortly after with a nice shot from Kelsey Foster to pull within 2-1. The Lady Eagles notched another just before half to go up 3-1 for a halftime score.
The second half the Lady Rams came out with much more intensity and pushed themselves a little harder. Jessie Grimes put the Lady Rams back in contention when she received a nice corner kick from Kaycie McCreight and finished it to pull the team within one at 3-2.
It was a tremendous battle the rest of the game as the Lady Rams had numerous chances to tie and go ahead but couldn't seem to find the back of the net. The Lady Eagles found the net once more just before time expired for the final score of 4-2. The Lady Rams played hard and left it all on the field.
Stats:
1st Half Rams Scoring: Kelsey Foster (unassisted)
2nd Half Rams Scoring: Jessie Grimes (received corner kick from Kaycie McCreight)
Shots on Goal:Grace - 10, Berean - 11

September 8, 2011 - Grace 4, Clinton 3
GCA 4-0 overall, 2-0 in District
The Lady Rams were up on the hill tonight as we hosted the Lady Dragons of Clinton on a soggy field. Tropical Storm Lee may have dampened the playing field but it didn't dampen the spirit of the home team tonight as the Rams took home a big victory over the much larger class AAA Clinton HS Lady Dragons.
The Lady Rams took the lead early with two quick goals, but a Clinton goal tied it up before the half. Clinton took the lead away early in the second half, but Lauren Hensley came through to tie it at 3-3. They pulled together as a team, and sophomore Kelsey Foster scored the winning goal on a nice feed from D'Anna Johnson to seal the Rams' 4-3 victory and keep the Rams undefeated. It was a total team effort and displayed great character in reaching deep to get the win.
1st Half Scoring: Kelsey Foster (assist Shelby Green); Kelsey Foster (assist Jessie Grimes)
2nd Half Scoring: Lauren Hensley (assist D Anna Johnson), Kelsey Foster (assist D' Anna Johnson)
Shots On Goal: Grace - 14, Clinton - 6

Grace 2, Rockwood 0. Grace District Record: 3-0
The Lady Rams paid a visit down in southern Roane county to Rockwood to face the much improved Lady Tigers. The Lady Rams have had their way with the Lady Tigers of Rockwood the past 2 years by a margin of 11-0 and 7-0. This year would be another shutout but the numbers were smaller. The game was sloppy at times on both sides and the Rams struggled to see the open field and make the open passes. The speed of Rockwood did hinder us a little but the Lady Rams did get the shutout win once again by the score of 2-0.
1st Half Scoring: Kelsey Foster (assist Madi Scealf)
2nd Half Scoring: Kelsey Foster (assist Marisa Infield)
Shots on Goal: Grace - 9; Rockwood - 7 Saves: Chesney Williams - 2

Grace at Carter
Score: Grace 5, Carter 3
Back to regular season play the Lady Rams went I-40 East to Strawberry Plains Tuesday evening for their first away game on the new season. Carter High School was the next stop for a district match with the Lady Hornets. Despite playing injured and banged up after the previous weekend tournament, The Lady Rams did come out with a 5 goal first half but seemed to sputter in the second half. Fortunately the 5 goals proved to be enough as the Rams took home a 5-3 win.
1st Half Scoring:Kaycie McCreight (assist D Anna Johnson), D'Anna Johnson (solo), Kaycie McCreight (solo), Wendy Adams (assist Shelby Green), D Anna Johnson (assist Sophia De Larosa)

The Lady Rams played in their first-ever tournament in their third year of HS soccer. In the Sevier County Invitational, the Rams were the smallest school in this tournament but looked forward to the challenge against the bigger AAA schools. Unfortunately, the Rams didn't come out with a win but did manage two ties during the weekend event.
Game 1 The Lady Rams lost 2-1 to Davey Crockett HS in a game that had 12 minutes left of playing time but had to be called due to running out of daylight. Game 2 the Lady Rams faced East Robertson HS and came out with a 2-2 tie. Game 3 once again ended in a 1-1 tie against William Blount HS in a very physical game. Game 4 the Lady Rams played an undefeated Sullivan South team that was senior dominated and very experienced. The Rams loss 5-0 in this last match of the weekend.
Thank you, parents and fans, for all the support we had during the tournament. August 23, 2011
