8th Grade Safety Patrol Visits D.C.

Fifty three students from the 5th grade of Grace Christian Academy, along with 5 teacher chaperones, left Friday, June 3 to travel to Washington D.C. on the 55th Annual AAA Safety Patrol Trip. GCA students, along with 1500 other students from East Tennessee, made their way through the Udvar-Hazy Space Museum, the National Zoo of D.C., the Smithsonian Institute, and Mount Vernon. An exciting feature of the trip came when students boarded the D.C. Metro Train and rode to Arlington Cemetery to view the historic Changing of the Guard ceremony.
The U.S. Capitol visit was also a highlight when they met with Congressman John Duncan Jr. and sat in the House of Representatives. Students also visited the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, the Vietnam Memorial, as well as the newest World War II Memorial which stands in front of the Washington Monument. The annual AAA Safety Patrol was a success as GCA students arrived home Monday evening to greet the crowd of eager GCA parents with signs and balloons.
