The High School curriculum is focused on core courses in Bible, English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, and History, with a heavy concentration on the writing process, reading comprehension, and vocabulary development. A high value is placed on clear communication, with all departments working together to encourage and support each student’s personal and academic maturation.
Students move through courses in Math, Science, Computer Science, and Foreign Language in a sequence that is appropriate for their skills level. This option for acceleration ensures that grade level placements do not limit course selection. GCA offers honors courses in English and formal Advanced Placement courses in English, United States History, Calculus, Biology, and Chemistry.
One of the distinctive of the high school is the opportunity students have to participate in job shadowing, community service, mission trips, and environmental studies during a two-week experience called Winterim.

Interested high school students may take choral ensemble as an elective. In addition to preparing for local concert performances, choir members also have the opportunity to travel during the spring semester. Recent tours have gone to Orlando, Chicago, and New York City.

God has blessed our choral program with performance opportunities such as touring Christian Schools in Chattanooga and Georgia; performing at the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, Statue of Liberty, Maryland area Christian Schools, and in the Rotunda during the First Lady’s Luncheon in 2005; performing at Disney World’s Magic Music Days in the Magic Kingdom; singing the National Anthem for UT Men’s Basketball Home Games; performing at the Dogwood Arts Festival and various home and church service concerts. If you are interested in joining the ensemble or would like to reserve a performance date, please notify Melissa Cleveland via email (mcleveland@gracebc.org) or by phone (865.342.3859).
Art I, Advanced Art and AP Studio Art classes are available as high school electives. Students explore their God-given creativity through various art forms, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and collage. Students will also learn art history. Field trips in the past have included the Knoxville Museum of Art, the High Museum in Atlanta and the Dogwood Art Festival. Students have the opportunity to enter local, regional and national art competitions. GCA art students have won awards in the Tennessee Right to Life art contest, East Tennessee Regional Art Competition hosted by the Knoxville Museum of Art, and ACSI art festivals. Each spring, students exhibit their work in the annual “Night of the Arts” art show and competition. For more information contact Shannon Johnson at sjohnson@gracebc.org.
