Our students learn the basics of math and language arts, as well as science, Bible, computers, art, Spanish, music, physical education and library skills. These subject areas provide students with a well-rounded education designed to promote the essential components of child development.
The language arts curriculum, which balances literature and phonics, teaches our students to enjoy reading. The Accelerated Reader program also encourages the students to read independently. Our math curriculum focuses on the mastery of math skills, understanding of important concepts and the integration of problem solving.
Younger elementary students are taught using a variety of methods such as learning centers, guest speakers, field trips and special programs. Parental involvement is encouraged. Students in fifth grade are taught by a team of teachers.
Instrumental music instruction is available to students in strings, keyboard and band instruments.
Elementary students are tested annually using the Stanford Achievement Test, and GCA students consistently score at or above the national norm on these standardized tests.
Please contact Kristi Waldschlager, Elementary Principal, if you have any qustions about the curriculum. |
