Grace Christian Academy has received full
accreditation from both the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the
Association of Christian Schools International for grades K-12. The Academy is
the largest Southern Baptist-affiliated school in the state of Tennessee to
receive dual accreditation, one of only 16 schools regionally to achieve this
status and the youngest school ever to attain this achievement.
In 1994 God called Grace Baptist Church to begin a new ministry,
a Christian school. Church members were called out to serve on the first school
board, which was composed of some home school parents, teachers, and businessmen
who had a heart for children. After almost two years of research and
preparation, Grace Christian Academy opened its doors at the beginning of the
1997-98 school year. God
worked through sixty families and five staff members to make GCA more than a
vision. Over the years, enrollment grew rapidly to the present day level of
over 750 students. In 2004, Grace Christian Academy received full
accreditation in grades K-12 and is classified as a category II school. The
2004-05 school year brought the graduation of the first senior class and
groundbreaking for phase one of the new high school building and athletic
fields.
Grace Christian Academy is conveniently located on Oak Ridge Highway in the
Karns community of west Knoxville, Tennessee. Strong commercial and
residential development has taken place in our region in recent years, resulting
in an excellent quality of life. Churches, shopping malls, medical facilities
and other services are all in close proximity.
All of GCA's faculty, staff, and administrators profess faith in Jesus
Christ. The entire academic faculty in grades K-12 have at least a bachelor's
degree and an average of 7 years of educational experience. Several of the
faculty and administration have advanced degrees.
Statement of Faith
We believe
the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word
of God. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:21)
We believe
there is one God, eternally existent in three persons - Father, Son, and Holy
Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)
We believe
in the deity of Christ (John 10:33), His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew
1:23, Luke 1:35), His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26), His miracles
(John 2:11), His vicarious and atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7,
Hebrews 2:9), His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4), His ascension
to the right hand of God (Mark 16:19), His personal return in power and glory
(Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11)
We believe
in the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation
because of the exceeding sinfulness of human nature; and that we are justified
on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Christ and that only by God’s
grace and through faith alone we are saved. (John 3:16-19, John 5:24, Romans
3:23, Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5)
We believe
in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; the saved to the
resurrection of life, and the lost to the resurrection of condemnation. (John
5:28-29)
We believe
in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, 1
Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28)
We believe
in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is
enabled to live a godly life. (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 3:16, 1 Corinthians
6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:18)
